Supporting Farmers Beyond Borders

At L J Fairburn & Son Limited, we started small—just 150 chickens for £150—and grew sustainably over generations. While the scale may be different, the principles of growth, sustainability, and prosperity are the same, whether in the UK or in eastern Africa. That’s why we are proud to support Farm Africa, a charity dedicated to tackling hunger at its roots by empowering smallholder farmers.

A Sustainable Solution to Ending Hunger

Farm Africa takes a long-term, sustainable approach to fighting hunger—not just providing food, but giving farmers the skills and tools to produce bigger harvests. By teaching smallholder farmers how to increase their crop yields, they can ensure food security for their families and communities for generations to come.

At Fairburn’s, we know that successful farming is about more than just financial investment. It’s about knowledge, innovation, and community support—something we believe in deeply.

Beyond Financial Support: Sharing Farming Knowledge

Our involvement in Farm Africa is more than just fundraising—it’s about helping farmers develop the skills they need to thrive. Through Farmer Field Schools, African farmers who receive training go on to train others in their communities, creating a ripple effect of knowledge and self-sufficiency.

By providing practical tools, improved seed varieties, and expert training, it is possible to equip African farmers with the skills to feed their own people—a vision that aligns with everything Fairburn’s stands for.

Fairburn’s supports Farm Africa, helping smallholder farmers gain skills and tools to achieve sustainable food security in their communities.

Looking to the Future

As a company built on farming, we are excited about the opportunity to contribute more than just donations. We look forward to getting involved in on-the-ground projects, sharing expertise, and helping to create sustainable farming communities in Africa—just as we have done in the UK.
