This summer has highlighted the value of community and our commitment to supplying quality, local eggs, for which we're always thankful, and for the opportunity to connect with people and share our passion for what we do. Over six days and in sweltering heat, we served up Pimm’s and bar snacks aplenty, gave away thousands of Fairburn’s bucket hats and sunglasses, and our ‘be a chicken’ selfie board proved incredibly popular! We also had the pleasure of catching up with lots of our current egg producers and meeting some potential new ones.

First up was the Lincolnshire Show on 18 and 19 June. Celebrating rural life and the best of our county’s produce, it was our first visit and we can’t wait to return. Despite the super-hot weather, we had a great time and Maria Fotellis, our HR Manager, also had the honour of being a judge for the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society Schools’ Challenge - an annual competition designed to inspire young people to gain a better understanding of Lincolnshire’s rich agricultural history. Each year, 10 challenges link food, farming, local community, environment and sustainability to the National Curriculum, with students researching their ideas and presenting their findings at the show to compete for the Schools’ Challenge Champion. Maria was proud to be involved.

We also ran a fun competition to guess how many balloons were in our lorry, with the winner taking home a Fairburn's hamper – thank goodness we had an electric balloon pump!

On 25 and 26 June, we headed to the Royal Norfolk Show at the Norfolk Showground. As one of the proud show sponsors, we supplied over 3,000 eggs for the judges, stewards, and stockmans' breakfasts throughout the show. We were delighted to support the event in this way and received a lot of lovely feedback from attendees.

To complete our show hat-trick, we were off to the Great Yorkshire Show on 8 July – our second time at this prestigious four-day event and the weather was scorching for this one too. Again, we had the chance to catch up with lots of our current egg producers and meet some potential new ones. We all enjoyed engaging with the local community and look forward to returning next summer.
