L J Fairburn & Son has been shortlisted for the For Many Generations award at the Made in Lincolnshire Awards 2019.

The family business was announced as a nominee at the Awards to be held in Lincoln later this month. Organised by Streets Chartered Accountants, and supported by Business Lincolnshire and Natwest Bank, the awards celebrate excellence in manufacturing and innovation.
Lynette Ashmore, National Brand and Account Manager at Fairburn’s, said: “It is a complete honour to be nominated for such a prestigious award, and the entire Fairburn family is very proud. All our employees put so much hard work into the company, 365 days a year, to ensure its sustainability for the next generation of Fairburns. As a third-generation family business, family very much remains at the heart of everything we do.”

Daniel Fairburn, CEO of Fairburn’s, added: “We feel incredibly humble to have been shortlisted for this award. In-ward investment and a passion to ensure our business is future-proof sets a solid foundation for our family business. Our children were all taught Grandad’s motto from an early age: ‘Feed the chickens before you feed yourself!’.”
The business supplies 17 million British Lion-approved eggs each week to seven leading retailers. Established in 1951 by Fairburn Grandad, Jim, with just 150 chickens bought for just £150, the now multi-million-pound business is now run by his grandson, Daniel, alongside granddaughters, Sarah, and Caroline, and Daniel’s wife Sarah Louise. All the Fairburn children get involved, helping their parents out with the running of the company.

“Everything we do is for the next generation; we want them to be proud of our family business. Family means everything to us”, Daniel says.

The Made in Lincolnshire Awards take place on 19th September and are hosted by BBC Radio Lincolnshire’s Melvyn Prior. The event will showcase the variety of Lincolnshire’s manufacturing industry. It is sure to be a fantastic event. Let’s wish Team Fairburn good luck!
