Judges at the prestigious Great Taste Awards described the British Blue® as a ‘perfect egg’ when the range won a sought-after two-star award.

Customers at 11 Lincolnshire Co-op stores will be able to buy the eggs from 1 October 2018 – Lincolnshire Day – and for every pack of six eggs sold 1p will be donated to Lincolnshire Coastal Country Park. Around eight kilometres of coastline and 35 square kilometres inland between Sandilands and Chapel St Leonards form part of the new park which aims to provide high quality facilities for local communities and visitors, and improvements for wildlife whilst contributing to a healthy local economy.

Sarah Louise Fairburn, Brand and Sales Director for LJ Fairburn, said: “This is a proud day for the Fairburn family as every part of this project has local Lincolnshire roots. Our British Blue hen was developed, hatched and reared in the county, and to launch these unique eggs into such a well-respected local retailer, whilst raising funds to help a major project aiming to boost tourism and the economy in Lincolnshire, is wonderful. Also, this will be the first time our British Blue® Eggs have been sold as a stand-alone brand under the Fairburn’s name. It’s great to be able to support our local community in such a cracking way.”

Lincolnshire Co-op’s Category Manager Judy Lyon said: “The Love Local range is our way of celebrating amazing products and showcasing some of the best food and drink around our trading area.

“These British Blue eggs from L J Fairburn & Son are a fantastic addition to the range. We’re eggs-cited to be bringing this unique product to our members and we hope they’ll be scrambling to try them.”British Blue - Fairburn's low res

"Many improvements have been made to Lincolnshire's Coastal Country Park, not just the stunning North Sea Observatory, but facilities for walkers, cyclists and for the amazing wildlife," said Mary Powell, Tourism Manager Lincolnshire County Council. "We are delighted that with the support of LJ Fairburn & Son we will be able to do so much more."

The 11 Lincolnshire Co-op stores selling British Blue Eggs will be Branston, Goxhill, Heckington, Meadow Way (Old Leake), Metheringham, Navenby, Nettleham, Saxilby and Woodhall Spa in Lincolnshire, plus Collingham in Nottinghamshire and Crowland in Peterborough.
