Sarah Louise gets muddy to raise funds for Cancer Research

Sep 17, 2018

Getting covered in mud over a ten-kilometre obstacle course might not be everyone’s cup of tea but for Sarah Louise Fairburn it was a challenge she couldn’t resist. And thanks to her dirty efforts, and the generosity of sponsors, she’s raised over £1,200 for Cancer Research.

Fairburn’s Brand & Sales Director spent three months training for the Pretty Muddy event which took place recently in Milton Keynes. Along with many of the participants, Sarah Louise found the event poignant in more ways than one.

“After the past few months of battling to train, whilst working full time, looking after our organic hen farm and of course trying to be a mum to four young children, it all got a little bit emotional!” she explained. “I started to blubber after one kilometre when I saw two young girls in front of me paying tribute to each other’s dads on the backs of their t-shirts. As I was running, I was thinking about all the children, mums, dads, brothers, sisters, nans and grandads who people have lost over the years; it’s so important we stop this horrible disease.image1

“I made it to the finish in 1 hr 15 mins in a very wet and muddy state! But, so pleased I took part for this amazing and important charity - for all of us, both for now and for our future generations.”

powell and coA big thank you to all the sponsors backing Sarah Louise’s challenge, particularly Jason Powell of Powell & Co Construction Ltd.
